July 31 – Chances are many of you have come across recruitment posts for Pangdonglai on your feeds.
But these fake job postings have recently sparked heated discussion among netizens.
The ads claim starting monthly salaries of 7,000 to 8,000 yuan, generous benefits for mid-level roles, and even boast internal vacancies and exclusive referral channels — enough to make Xiao Lei pretty tempted.
It’s Pangdonglai, after all. Who wouldn’t want to work for such a widely acclaimed dream employer?
Yesterday, however, Pangdonglai’s official flagship store released a statement making one thing clear: all those online recruitment ads are fake.

First, Pangdonglai’s Zhengzhou store has never released any recruitment information to date. All content across the internet claiming to hire for Zhengzhou Pangdonglai is false information published by scammers using the company’s name without any official authorization.
Second, Pangdonglai only publishes official job openings through two official channels: the WeChat official account Pangdonglai Commercial and Trade Group and the official Douyin account Pangdonglai. All other channels are unofficial and should not be trusted.
Last and most importantly, Pangdonglai never charges any fees for recruitment. Whether it’s registration fees, training fees, placement fees or uniform deposits — if anyone asks you to pay up, you can be 100% certain it’s a scam, no questions asked.
Some of you may be wondering how exactly these scammers operate. You might think their tricks are old-fashioned, but a surprising number of people have fallen for them.
The scammers use increasingly enticing headlines such as “Zhengzhou Pangdonglai is hiring, monthly salary 7,000–10,000 yuan” and “Internal recruitment for mid-level roles at Pangdonglai, limited spots on a first-come, first-served basis”, precisely playing to ordinary people’s desire for well-paid, stable jobs.

A journalist conducted a special investigation into the matter and got in touch with an intermediary who had posted the recruitment ads. The contact was a woman who immediately demanded a 45,000-yuan application fee, requiring an upfront deposit of 10,000 yuan with the balance to be settled upon admission. She also claimed to arrange two weeks of training and confidently guaranteed that "roughly 90 percent of applicants will land the job."
Forty-five thousand yuan is no small sum. For an average worker, that could amount to nearly half a year’s savings. It is infuriating to think people are swindled out of their hard-earned money by a string of grandiose lies.
Notably, this is not the first time Pangdonglai has debunked false recruitment rumors about its Zhengzhou store. Not long ago, the company issued an official statement in response to a similar scam.
Barely a month later, scammers are back at it. After their previous claim of a 15,000-yuan monthly salary failed to gain traction, they have lowered the figure to the 7,000–10,000 yuan range and added new rhetoric about "agency partnerships and internal channels" — the same old scam in a new wrapper.
Many people get excited the moment they see the words "Pangdonglai recruitment" and neglect to verify the information in the heat of the moment. Lured further by the intermediary’s pitches about internal quotas and guaranteed entry, they easily make impulsive money transfers.
Here, Xiao Lei would like to point out that there are no shortcuts to finding a job. For high-profile companies with generous benefits like Pangdonglai, recruitment procedures are standardized and transparent. There is simply no such thing as buying a spot or securing a job through paid internal connections.

Furthermore, no legitimate company will ever charge job applicants any fees during recruitment. If anyone asks you to transfer money upfront, don’t hesitate to block them right away — it is 100% a scam.
Another tip: when you come across questionable job postings, don’t rush to pay. First verify them on the company’s official accounts, or call its official customer service line to confirm authenticity. It takes barely a few minutes, but it can save you from losses of tens of thousands of yuan. It’s a no-brainer any way you look at it.
If you encounter this kind of fake recruitment, stay calm. Preserve evidence such as chat logs and transfer receipts, and report the case to the relevant authorities immediately.
